Shiva Nata Overview

Practiced by yoga practitioners and experts around the world, Shiva Nata is a recently systematized set of positions and connecting movements that involve the arms and legs rotating in relation to the midline at the torso.

Depending on the speed of practice, the dancer may appear to have many arms, as in the popularized Shiva Nataraja statue. The dances are quite different, although both symbolize the complete cycle of life, bearing creation and destruction.

Shiva Nata aligns the voluntary and involuntary aspects of the mind/body/spirit complex; people who practice report regular epiphanies and deeper connection to their bliss.
